Literary fiction, classics, dystopian, history, memoir, prize winners, and of course the 1001 books. You really might catch me reading anything!
Yes, my 7th grader wanted me to read this. He got it for his birthday and read it in 2 days, his 10th grade brother (who hates reading—where did he come from ?!) read it in one day. I read it on our 5-hour drive back from our long weekend getaway.
So—it's Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It was fine. The second one is still my favorite (and I haven't read them all). This time the class goes on a week-long cabinp-camping field trip. Which my 7th grader is doing in January. So my guy says this is the BEST Diary of a Wimpy Kid yet, so obviously Jeff Kinney is doing something right. The 10th grader has completely outgrown these books yet still reads them when 7th grader gets them—and he reads no non-assigned books other than these. The 7th grader can still relate.
So—not my favorite, but I see the humor and why my kids like these. Kinney gets his target audience. And I am fully impressed by anything that can get my high schooler to willingly read a book!
